What Is Turbocharger?

A turbocharger, or turbo, is a gas compressor used for forced-induction of an internal combustio engine. Like a supercharger, the purpose of a turbocharger is to increase the mass of air entering the engine to create more power. However, a turbocharger differs in that the compressor is powered by a turbine driven by the engine's own exhaust gases.
In Malaysia, people who like to add a turbo on their vehicle must get an aprroval from JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan). The JPJ will test drive their vehicle to make sure the sefety of the vehicle and the reason of the addition of the turbo. If they fail to get the JPJ's approval, the will get in trouble when the JPJ make a roadblock.
